Last year, Suncity Group participated in the “Oxfam Rice Sale” for the first time with the active support and dedication of employees. In 2018, Suncity Group continues to participate in this annual charity fundraising activity. With the theme of “Support the Smallholder Farmers with One Pack of Rice”, the funds raised from the rice charity sale this year will be donated to the “Smallholder Farmers Development Fund” which would be used to assist poverty-stricken smallholder farmers to improve their lives and obtain self-reliance.

This year, the number of Suncity Group’s volunteers has increased to 2 teams of 20 people who participated in the charity sale at two different sites—Sun Star Plaza and the Polytec Garden Building. On May 19, the volunteers gathered to assist in the preparation for the booth of rice selling. The event officially started at 11 am where all volunteers of Suncity Group devoted their best to appeal to the public to offer solidarity and generosity. With much effort paid, the result of the charity sale was a huge success in which around 500 packs of Oxfam rice were sold within 2 hours. After the event, volunteers shared their point of view that the event itself is “a blessing” to help those in need, and they are vowed to continue to participate in social charity work.

Suncity Group has always dedicated in participating in public charity events and contributing to society. Last year marks the first time for Suncity Group to engage in “Oxfam Rice Sale”, more than 3000 packs of Oxfam rice had been sold out thanks to the generous contributions of employees. This year the Group carries on to adhere to the benevolent spirit by gathering employees to engage in the rice charity sale to raise donations for the “Smallholder Farmers Development Fund”, hoping to enhance the livelihood of smallholder farmers.
