Successful Closing of the Suncity Group 65th Macau Grand Prix on the Fourth Day
On November 18, along with the enthusiastic passion of the top events and the fierce competition of the superb racers, this is the final showdown of the Suncity Group 65th Macau Grand Prix.
In addition to the race today we have a supercar parade, with supercars from some of the most well-known carmakers including Pagani, Ferrari, and Lamborghini, provided by Sun International Automobile, cruising the legendary Guia Circuit. The traditional lion dance performance that followed is another highlight on the grid! The scene was very lively and the audiences were happy to join.
Today, Dr. Alexis Tam, Director of The Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture, Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Coordinator of the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), and Gina Lei, Senior Vice President of Corporate and Community Relations of Suncity Group as well as other honored guests attended the Grand Prix to encourage the racers.
The annual sports event is naturally a gathering of stars. Celebrity stars including Anita Yuen, Miriam Yeung, Him Law, Chris Lai, Samantha Ko, Mandy Wong, Elaine Yiu and Benjamin Yuen also appeared at the circuit. In the cheerful atmosphere, guests took group photos to record this precious gathering.
Suncity Group Macau Guia Race - FIA World Touring Car Cup
In Suncity Group Macau Guia Race - FIA World Touring Car Cup – Race 2 - 8 Laps, Frédéric Vervisch jumped to a great start and continued to overtake polesitter Timo Scheider and secure the lead, a position that he held unchallenged. Scheider came home second while Yvan Muller secured the third position. YM Choong, President of Marketing Strategy for Suncity Group, congratulated them at the awards ceremony.
For the 11-lap Race 3, Esteban Guerrieri claimed his maiden victory here in Macao. Second across the line was UK racer Rob Huff, followed by Norbert Michelisz from Norway.
Subsequently, Anita Yuen and Suncity Group Ambassador Louis Koo presented awards with congratulations to the winning racers of the Suncity Group Macau Guia Race - FIA World Touring Car Cup – Race 3 - 11 Laps.
With Macao as the final leg of the WTCR season, the awards presentation is also here in Macao.
With the end of the race and all points added up, Gabriele Tarquini is crowned the champion of the series, followed by Yvan Muller and Esteban Guerrieri.
Suncity Group Greater Bay Area Lotus Cup
For the one-make race of Suncity Group Greater Bay Area Lotus Cup, Macao’s Kong Kin Chong claimed the top spot of the podium, beating Hong Kong’s Lo Ka Fai and fellow Macao driver Mak Ka Lok in the 12-lap race.
After the race, celebrity guests, Him Law, Samantha Ko, and Lokyi Lai, presented awards to the winners and congratulated them.
Macau GT Cup - FIA GT World Cup
Augusto Farfus Jr. held off race-long pressure to take an emotional victory in the Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup. Maro Engel was second to cross the checkered flag, followed by Edoardo Mortara.
Suncity Group Macau Grand Prix Formula 3 - FIA Formula 3 World Cup - 15 Laps
Daniel Ticktum from the UK continued his strong momentum, dominating the Guia Circuit again with another Suncity Group F3 Macau Grand Prix – FIA F3 World Cup victory. Sweden's Joel Eriksson came home second and Sacha Fenestraz Jules of France was third.
Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Director of The Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Macau Grand Prix, presented awards to the winners of the championship, runner-up and third place. Celebrity guest Miriam Yeung also took the stage to present the championship trophy.
The four-day event was full of memorable moments. The performance of the Suncity Racing Team captured not only four out of the top five in the Macau Touring Car Cup, but also won first place in the 1950cc and 1600cc Turbo groups of the race.
